Pro Vice-Chancellor Donates to UG Team at 27th GUSA Games
The Pro Vice-Chancellor with responsibility for Academic and Student Affairs and Chairperson of the Sports Advisory Board of the University of Ghana, Professor Gordon A. Awandare, has presented cartons of bottled water and assorted drinks to student athletes representing the University of Ghana (UG) at the 27th Ghana Universities Sports Association (GUSA) Games being held at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Kumasi.

Mr. Augustine Amissare, Senior Assistant Registrar at the Sports Directorate and Deputy Delegation Leader, informed the Pro Vice-Chancellor of Team UG’s achievements in the Games so far. Mr. Amissare reported that as of Day 6, UG had clinched 6 gold, 7 silver and 6 bronze medals in 4 out of the 12 disciplines.

Professor Awandare, in his remarks, commended the athletes for representing UG at the 27th GUSA Games. He was enthused with the athletes determination, hard work, and positive attitude, which they exhibited both in camp and also during the Games.
He indicated that "the University is very proud of your achievements in the Games. The 19 medals you've won so far in the Games give credence to your resilience, determination, and hardwork you put on the fields and courts. We assure you of the University’s maximum support for you in the Games. I encourage you to press on, remain resolute, and be mentally tough in the matches you have yet to play in the Games."
Mr. Ebenezer Kinni, outgoing Treasurer of the University of Ghana Student Sports Council (UGSSC), thanked the Pro Vice-Chancellor, ASA, for the kind gesture. He remarked that as athletes they will reciprocate the donation by winning gold medals in the various disciplines left to be played.
