Ministry of Youth and Sports Donates Footballs to UG Sports Directorate
The Ministry of Youth and Sports has donated twenty (20) footballs to the University of Ghana Sports Directorate as part of its support towards the University for the 27th Ghana Universities Sports Association (GUSA) Games to be hosted by the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) from 4th to 19th November, 2022.
The donation comes at a time when athletes selected to represent the University of Ghana (UG) will commence camping on 13th October, 2022 on UG Campus.
Mr. Tahiru Amuda Yusif, football coach for both male and female football teams at UG, expressed his gratitude to the ministry for donating the footballs. He added the footballs came at a time when the team needed them most for their practice in training.
"The donation has come at a good time for the team. This will help our practice sessions, and I believe the players will relish having more time on the ball during practice time. We are grateful to the Ministry of Youth and Sports for this kind gesture. "
The UG male and female teams won silver and bronze, respectively, at the 26th edition of the GUSA Games in 2020, when UG hosted. The teams are seeking to improve upon this performance in Kumasi next month.
UG appreciates the good relationship between the ministry and the university not the least the cooperation towards the African Games dubbed Accra 2023.
