UNIVERSITY OF GHANA WINS TRIANGULAR FOOTBALL GAMES
The University of Ghana (UG) male Football team has won the maiden Triangular Football Games hosted by the University of Cape Coast from Tuesday, 8th to Saturday, 12th June, 2021.
ALUMNUS DONATES TENNIS EQUIPMENT TO SPORTS DIRECTORATE
Dr. Twum Boafo, an alumnus of the University of Ghana (UG) has donated Tennis equipment to the University of Ghana Sports Directorate. The items included racquets, balls and sneakers.
UNIVERSITY OF GHANA TO PARTICIPATE IN TRIANGULAR GAMES
The University of Ghana male Football team will participate in the maiden Triangular Football Games from Tuesday, 8th to Sunday, 13th June, 2021 at the University of Cape Coast. This will be the first competition for the team after the 2020 GUSA Games as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Participating Institutions and Rationale
The participating universities are University of Cape Coast as the host, University of Ghana, Legon and Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Kumasi.
GRACE OBOUR WINS GHANA'S FASTEST
Grace Obour, a level 200 student of the Physical Education and Sports Studies Department at the University of Ghana continued the impressive run of lifting the banner of the University high when she was crowned the fastest 100m runner at Ghana’s Fastest Human at Kumasi on Saturday, 15th May, 2021.

SPORTS DIRECTORATE AWARDS 2020 CRICKET AND 2021 VIRTUAL INTER-HALL GAMES WINNERS
The Sports Directorate in a short ceremony on Wednesday, 28th April, 20201 at the Conference Room of the Sports Directorate awarded trophies to Halls who participated in the 2019/2020 Inter-Halls Cricket competition before the semester was truncated due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
AZAMATI BREAKS 22-YEAR RECORD AND BOOKS TICKET TO TOKYO 2020
He keeps shattering records wherever he goes. He has become the torchbearer for many young student athletes at the University of Ghana (UG) and Ghana as a whole. He epitomizes perseverance, the strength of mind, body and soul. Benjamin Azamati, a former student of UG has broken the 22-year old national 100m record in the United States of America during the Texas Relay with a time of 9.97 seconds (1.5 m/s). He is a clear manifestation of the fruits of silent and patient investment of the Sports Directorate of the University of Ghana
UG DIRECTOR OF SPORTS CHALKS ANOTHER MILESTONE
The University of Ghana’s Director of Sports, Dr. Bella Bello Bitugu has again made UG and himself proud by becoming one of the newest members of the Ghana Olympic Executive Committee. Dr Bitugu has achieved this feat of being elected to the highest executive body of the Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC) within a matter of one year. Last year, Ghana Universities Sports Association (GUSA) nominated him to represent GUSA at the GOC board of governors.
AZAMATI SETS NEW RECORD
The fastest University Athlete on the continent in the 2019 All African University Olympics in Cairo (representing UG), Benjamin Azamati, an alumnus of University of Ghana and the fastest local athlete based in Ghana until moving to the United States of America to further his education in January 2020 broke yet another record in The Lone Star Conference™ (LSC) Meet. He run a time of 6.62 in 60 meters and 20.97 in 200 meters.
INTER-HALL FRESHMEN DEBATE CHAMPIONSHIP 2021
The annual Inter-Hall Freshmen Debate Championship by the University’s Debate society under the auspices of the Sports Directorate will take place from Friday, 26th February to Monday, 1st March, 2021. In the wake of the COVID pandemic, the championship will be held online this year.

Another milestone from the University of Ghana. The Director of Sports at the University of Ghana Dr. Bella Bello Bitugu has been appointed by the International Centre of Martial Arts for Youth Development and Engagement under the auspices of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) to serve a 3-year term on its Governing Body.
