UG Student Sports Council Executives Sworn Into Office
The newly elected executives of the University of Ghana Student Sports Council have been sworn into office by the Director of Sports, Dr. Bella Bello Bitugu.
The swearing in ceremony took place at the Mensah Sarbah Dining Hall during a welcome meeting between Management and Staff of the Sports Directorate, and student athletes who are camping ahead of the 27th Ghana Universities Sports Association (GUSA) Games to be held at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Kumasi in April 2022.
The executives are Mr. Abdul Somed Yussif, General Sports Secretary; Miss Marceline Ashie, Vice General Sports Secretary; Miss Jemila Rockson Bukari, Women’s Organiser; Mr. Cadman Evans Yamoah, Men’s Organiser and Mr. Kinni Ebenezer, Treasurer.

The General Sports Secretary, Mr. Abdul Somed Yussif, in his opening speech after the swearing in ceremony, expressed appreciation to the student athletes and the Sports Directorate on behalf of the other executives for the trust reposed in them to lead the Council. He asked for their support as they begin their tenure in office.
The Director of Sports, Dr. Bella Bello Bitugu, congratulated and commended them for availing themselves to take up leadership roles. He advised them to continue from where their predecessors left off and help tackle the challenges that confront sports men and women on UG campus. Dr. Bitugu urged them to show maturity, professionalism and lead by example.

The Director of Sports addressing the student athletes, reiterated the need to continue to follow the existing channels of communication established by the Sports Directorate to discuss issues or challenges that affect them. He also encouraged them that the benefits they derive from participating in sports are first and foremost, for themselves. Dr. Bitugu advised them to seize the opportunities that exist for them as sportsmen and women and make the best out of it. In his concluding remarks, the Director of Sports encouraged all stakeholders to show a symbiotic respect while in camp and beyond.
The camping which began on 28th November 2021, will end on 19th December 2021.
