UG@75 Sporting Activities Launched
The University of Ghana (UG) as part of activities commemorating its 75th anniversary to celebrate its achievements and contributions to national development, has integrated sports as part of the events for the celebration. The Pro Vice-Chancellor (Academic and Student Affairs), Professor Gordon A. Awandare, who launched the sporting activities commended the Sports Directorate for putting together strategies and programmes to promote the development of student athletes.
UG Student Athletes to Represent Ghana at International Championship
University of Ghana’s Caleb Aryettey and Abubakari Yakubu Lea have been invited by the Ghana Tennis Federation (GTF) to represent Ghana at the International Tennis Federation/Confederation of African Tennis Closed Junior 18 & Under Championships – J200 scheduled to come from 6th to 11th February, 2023 in Cairo, Egypt.
University of Ghana Makes History at World Universities Debate Championship
After successfully defending the World Public Speaking Trophy for two consecutive times in 2019 and 2020, the University of Ghana Debate Society made history again. UG was one of the first African teams to make it to the finals of the highest debating stage in the world during the 43rd World Universities Debating Championship (WUDC) hosted by Rey Juan Carlos University, Madrid, Spain from 26th December, 2022 to 4th January 2023.
Elisha and Wesoamo to Represent UG at World Debate Championship
Mr. Elisha Owusu Akyaw and Ms. Zempare Wesoamo will represent the University of Ghana (UG) at the 2023 World Universities Debate Championship (WUDC) to be hosted by Rey Juan Carlos University, Madrid, Spain from 26th December, 2022 to 4th January, 2023.
Vanessa Akuaku Wins Silver at Mansa Gold Holiday Tennis Tournament
University of Ghana Tennis prodigy and Ghana’s number four seed, Vanessa Kabukie Akuaku, has won silver medal at the Mansa Gold Holiday Tennis Tournament held at the Accra Lawn Tennis Club from 12th to 17th December, 2022.
The aim was to afford the professional women tennis players in the country more competitive games to keep them sharp and ready for future international competitions.
