DIRECTOR OF SPORTS AT UNIVERSITY OF GHANA TO SERVE ON UNESCO BOARD OF GOVERNORS

Another milestone from the University of Ghana. The Director of Sports at the University of Ghana Dr. Bella Bello Bitugu has been appointed by the International Centre of Martial Arts for Youth Development and Engagement under the auspices of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) to serve a 3-year term on its Governing Body.
 

UG 2021 VIRTUAL INTER HALL GAMES

INTRODUCTION

The COVID-19 pandemic has changed our way of life. For this reason, the President of the republic has issued directives to schools and colleges not to organise team sports. The University of Ghana Sports Directorate in an effort to engage the University Community and the public has come up with the UG 2021 Virtual Inter Hall Games. This will be an online event with zero physical contact. All participants will be engaged in competitive match-ups online.

 

RULES OF ENGAGEMENT

Reopening of Gymnasium and Swimming Pool

Management of the Sports Directorate wishes to inform the University community and public that the Gymnasium and Swimming Pool is opened.
 
The Sports Directorate has put in place Covid-19 protocols to ensure the safety of all clients accessing and using the facilities and will ensure adherence to these protocols. The Directorate hopes to serve you much better when you visit the facilities. 
 
Classes shall be booked ahead via the online registration link below, and a limited number will be admitted at a time. 
 

2020 GUSA GAMES: LEGACIES OF INFRASTRUCTURE

The returns in hosting a competition by a country or an institution are many, one such returns on hosting is infrastructure development. The gains made by University of Ghana (UG) after hosting the 26th Ghana Universities Sports Association (GUSA) Games in the area of infrastructure is worth applauding and has helped closed the gap in infrastructure. The games dubbed Legon 2020 came off from the 3rd to 19th January, 2020.

UG FOOTBALL SENSATION SIGNS WITH ACCRA GREAT OLYMPICS

Arnold Abbey-Mensah, a graduate of the University of Ghana (UG) has signed a 3-year contract with one of the oldest football clubs in Ghana, Accra Great Olympics.

He was scouted during the Ghana Universities Sports Association (GUSA) Games hosted by UG in January 2020. Abbey-Mensah, a dynamic and hardworking attacking midfielder played three matches during the Games scoring a goal and assisting another.

He spoke exclusively to the Sports Directorate after his unveiling at his new club.

SPORTS DIRECTORATE - CLOSURE OF GYMNASIUM, THE SWIMMING POOL AND SUSPENSION OF INTER-HALL SPORTING ACTIVITIES

The University of Ghana (UG) has stepped up measures to prevent and/or contain a possible outbreak of COVID 19 on its campuses. UG has accordingly suspended lectures, large gatherings and recommends appropriate spacing, preventive measures and adequate ventilation.
