Week 11 of the University of Ghana Corporate Football League carried deep emotional weight as it coincided with one of the darkest days in Ghana’s sporting history. On May 9, 2001, 127 fans lost their lives in the Accra Sports Stadium disaster.

After a two-week hiatus, the UG Corporate Football League roared back to life at its home ground, the UG Stadium, with a slate of high-octane Group B matchups and an outstanding Group A fixture. Fans were treated to an afternoon of intense rivalries, unexpected results, and impressive performances despite the light showers that drizzled over the venue.

The University of Ghana (UG) has officially launched the 2025 edition of the West African University Games (WAUG), setting the stage for a landmark sporting event in the sub-region. The launch ceremony, held on Wednesday, April 30, 2025, at the VIP Lounge of the UG Sports Stadium, marked a significant milestone in the university’s journey towards hosting WAUG with excellence, pride, and unity.

In a proactive move to strengthen fairness and improve the overall quality of competition, the University of Ghana Sports Directorate, in collaboration with Rite Sports, held a key stakeholder meeting for the UG Corporate Football League on April 16, 2025. The session, hosted at the UG Sports and Wellness Conference Room, brought together representatives from various corporate entities with a shared interest in refining the league's standards and operations.

The University of Ghana Corporate Football League delivered another exhilarating chapter in its debut season, with Week 9 serving up high-octane action and compelling storylines on Saturday, April 12, 2025. Hosted at the Union Ghana Field, the matchday brought together eight formidable teams in a display of talent, determination, and strategic play. From 8:30a.m. to 1:15p.m., spectators were treated to a pulsating series of matches that captured the competitive essence of the league.

The University of Ghana Male and Female Basketball Teams participated in the 5^th FASU 3x3 Basketball Challenge held at the University of Johannesburg, South Africa from 22^nd to 25^th June, 2023. A contingent of fourteen, made up of nine student-athletes and five staff represented the University.

The University of Ghana will be participating in the 5th FASU 3x3 Championship in Johannesburg, South Africa, from June 23-25, 2023. The tournament is being organized by the Federation of African University Sports (FASU), and it will feature 13 other teams from universities across the continent.

The University of Ghana team is one of the favourites to win the tournament. They have been training hard in preparation for the event, and they are confident that they can bring home both gold medals.
