Apostle Dr. Kwabena Akufo Donates to UG
The University of Ghana Sports Directorate has received equipment for playing Pickleball from Apostle Dr. Kwabena Dautey Akufo during the opening ceremony of the UG@75 Sporting Activities. The items are 5 sets of pickleball net and stand, 17 paddles, 1 ball catcher and basket and 80 plastic balls. Apostle Dr. Akufo stated that he was motivated by the love he has for Pickleball and was touched to promote it in his native country Ghana.
UG Coach and Athletes Selected for National Cross-Country Competition
The University of Ghana Athletics (Middle and Long Distance) Coach William Awunime Akuka, and two student athletes, Naomi Addo and Afful Basit, have been selected to join the Ghana Universities Sports Association (GUSA) Cross-Country Team for the 2023 edition of the National Cross-Country Competition at Savelugu in the Northern Region from 23rd to 26th February, 2023.

UG Student Athletes to Represent Ghana at International Championship
University of Ghana’s Caleb Aryettey and Abubakari Yakubu Lea have been invited by the Ghana Tennis Federation (GTF) to represent Ghana at the International Tennis Federation/Confederation of African Tennis Closed Junior 18 & Under Championships – J200 scheduled to come from 6th to 11th February, 2023 in Cairo, Egypt.
University of Ghana Makes History at World Universities Debate Championship
After successfully defending the World Public Speaking Trophy for two consecutive times in 2019 and 2020, the University of Ghana Debate Society made history again. UG was one of the first African teams to make it to the finals of the highest debating stage in the world during the 43rd World Universities Debating Championship (WUDC) hosted by Rey Juan Carlos University, Madrid, Spain from 26th December, 2022 to 4th January 2023.

Vanessa Akuaku Wins Silver at Mansa Gold Holiday Tennis Tournament
University of Ghana Tennis prodigy and Ghana’s number four seed, Vanessa Kabukie Akuaku, has won silver medal at the Mansa Gold Holiday Tennis Tournament held at the Accra Lawn Tennis Club from 12th to 17th December, 2022.
The aim was to afford the professional women tennis players in the country more competitive games to keep them sharp and ready for future international competitions.
