UNIVERSITY OF GHANA PARTICIPATES IN THE JUST ENDED FASU 3X3 BASKETBALL CHAMPIONSHIP IN JOHANNESBURG, SOUTH AFRICA
The University of Ghana Male and Female Basketball Teams participated in the 5th FASU 3x3 Basketball Challenge held at the University of Johannesburg, South Africa from 22nd to 25th June, 2023. A contingent of fourteen, made up of nine student-athletes and five staff represented the University.
UNIVERSITY OF GHANA TO PARTICIPATE IN THE FEDERATION OF AFRICA UNIVERSITY SPORTS 3X3 BASKETBALL CHAMPIONSHIPS
The University of Ghana will be participating in the 5th FASU 3x3 Championship in Johannesburg, South Africa, from June 23-25, 2023. The tournament is being organized by the Federation of African University Sports (FASU), and it will feature 13 other teams from universities across the continent.
The University of Ghana team is one of the favourites to win the tournament. They have been training hard in preparation for the event, and they are confident that they can bring home both gold medals.
UG SPORTS DIRECTORATE INTERACTS WITH STUDENT-ATHLETES
The University of Ghana Sports Directorate has organised an interaction with student-athletes. Students and staff of the Sports Directorate attended the meeting. The goal of the session was to provide a platform for students to engage the Management of the Sports Directorate on issues concerning sports at the University of Ghana.
UNIVERSITY OF GHANA ATHLETICS TEAM DAZZLES AT NATIONAL OPEN CHAMPIONSHIP
The University of Ghana Athletics Team made a big impression at the National Open Championship organized by the Ghana Athletics at the Cape Coast Stadium. The meet was the third circuit games organized by Ghana Athletics in 2023. It saw athletes from all over the country participating. Team UG won laurels in Javelin (Women), 1500m (Men) and Long jump (Men).
UG ATHLETES QUALIFY FOR FISU
Three (3) University of Ghana (UG) athletes have qualified for the International University Sports Federation (FISU) World University Games to be held in Chengdu, China, from the 28th of July – 8th August. A UG contingent of ten (10) participated in the Ghana Universities Sports Association (GUSA) trials held at the Paa Joe Stadium, Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST).
University of Ghana Athletes Win Big at Local and International Competitions
Barely five months after winning the Ghana Universities Sports Association (GUSA) Athletics and losing five of its top athletes to universities in the United States of America, the University of Ghana Athletics Team (Track and Field) has once again exhibited an exhilarating performance at the just ended Ghana Athletics First National Circuit at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi. The meet in Kumasi marked the first Ghana Athletics (GA) circuit games for the year.
University Ghana Male Team Wins 26th GUSA Cross-Country Competition
The University of Ghana Male Cross-Country Team won the just ended 26th Ghana University Sports Association (GUSA) Cross-Country Competition. The Competition which was hosted by the University of Ghana (UG) came off on Saturday, 1st April, 2023. The Team thus successfully defended the same trophy they won last year during the 25th GUSA Cross Country hosted by the University of Health and Allied Sciences at Ho.
Akuafo and Legon Halls Winners of the UG@75 Inter-Hall Cross-Country Competition
The UG@75 Inter-Hall Cross-Country Competition ended on Saturday 11th March, 2023 with Akuafo and Legon Halls crowned champions of the female and male categories respectively. Akuafo Hall finished with a total of 39 points, while Legon Hall had a total of 41 points.
